AODA for Ontario businesses: what applies, and what's due in 2026
A plain-language summary of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act obligations for businesses and non-profits, with every rule linked to ontario.ca.
Who has to do what
For businesses and non-profits. Designated public sector organizations have separate rules — their most recent report deadline was December 31, 2025 (ontario.ca).

| 20 or more | File an accessibility compliance report every three years. The current deadline is December 31, 2026. Reports are filed through the Accessibility Compliance Reporting Portal and certified by a senior officer with legal authority to say the report is complete and accurate. Source |
| 50 or more | Everything above, plus: all public websites and web content published after January 1, 2012 must meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA, with the exceptions ontario.ca lists. Internal websites don't have to meet it, but you must work with anyone who asks for information in an accessible format. Source |
When counting, ontario.ca says to include full-time, part-time and seasonal employees and contract workers, and not to count employees outside Ontario, volunteers or independent contractors.
